Appointment of Non-executive Director

Topps Tiles, the UK's largest tile and wood flooring specialist, is pleased to announce the appointment of Claire Tiney as an independent non-executive director of the Company with effect from 12 December 2011.

Claire Tiney has a thirty year track record in retail in a number of senior human resources roles.  Most recently she was HR Director of McArthurGlen, the developer and owner of designer outlet villages throughout Europe, having formerly led the HR function at Woolworths, HomeServe and Mothercare.  Prior to that, she spent nine years with W H Smith Group in a variety of HR posts.

Michael Jack, Chairman, said: "Claire brings to our Board nearly thirty years of retail experience with a strong focus on human resources. This expertise will be invaluable to Topps, with its firm emphasis on excellence of customer service.  We also expect Claire to make a significant contribution to our Board deliberations on training and remuneration issues.   Her appointment adds diversity to the Board and strengthens the representation of independent non-executive directors, in line with corporate governance best practice."

The board anticipate announcing a further non-executive director appointment early in the New Year.

The following additional information is disclosed in respect of Claire Tiney pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13R:

Ms Tiney was a director of two Woolworths Group companies in the twelve month period prior to their entering insolvency proceedings but had formally left the Group ahead of the commencement of any proceedings. The companies were Entertainment UK Ltd and WW Realisation 1 Ltd, which both entered administration on 27 November 2008.
