Topps Tiles Plc (the 'Company')
Acquisition of own shares
The Company announces that, pursuant to its general authority granted by
shareholders of the Company on 6 January 2004 to make market purchases of its
own shares, and pursuant to certain employees of the Company exercising 20,450
options over Ordinary Shares under the Topps Tiles Plc approved and unapproved
Executive Share Option Schemes, the Company made on market purchases of 25,365
Ordinary Shares at 174 pence per Ordinary Share on 2 July 2004 (to be held as
treasury shares).
The Company now holds 1,388,370 Ordinary Shares in treasury and the total number
of Ordinary Shares in issue less the total number of Ordinary Shares held in
treasury following the purchase and non-cancellation of such Ordinary Shares is
227,072,355 Ordinary Shares. This notification is pursuant to the amendment of
the Companies Act 1985 to allow companies to buy-back and hold certain types of
their own shares 'in treasury'.
