Award of Donggala Block

Total Fina Elf. 7 December 2001 Indonesia:TotalFinaElf awarded deep offshore block Paris, December 7, 2001 - The joint consortium of TOTAL FINA ELF/ INPEX CORPORATION has been awarded the Donggala block by the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The block is located north of the Makassar Straits, in water depths of between 1,800 and 2,500 metres. TotalFinaElf, the operator, and the Japanese company INPEX CORPORATION each hold a 50% interest in the block. The Donggala block covers an area of 3,820 km2 and is located 75 kilometres from the production facilities of the Tunu field, which is operated by TotalFinaElf. A 3D seismic study has already been carried out on the block and drilling operations should begin next year. The acquisition of the Donggala block is in line with the Group's strategy of strengthening its position in the deep offshore, particularly in an area where it is already a major player. TotalFinaElf currently produces in Indonesia, on behalf of the TOTALFINAELF/ INPEX CORPORATION association (50/50%), more than 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, of which 85% is gas, and supplies 60% of the gas requirements of the Bontang LNG plant. The latter is the largest LNG plant in the world, with an annual capacity of 22.25 million tonnes. end MSCUUGPUPUPGGGM
