Tottenham Hotspur PLC 08 November 2004 Enquiries: Trevor Phillips/John Bick, Holborn Tel: +44 (0) 20 7929 5599 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR plc APPOINTMENT OF MARTIN JOL AS HEAD COACH London, Monday, 8 November 2004 Tottenham Hotspur Football Club today announced that Martin Jol has been appointed Head Coach with immediate effect. Jol, previously First Assistant Coach at the Club, joined in July this year having previously been Head Coach at RKC Waalwijk. The appointment follows the departure of Jacques Santini following his decision to return to France for personal reasons. Daniel Levy, Chairman, added, 'What is important now, is that we, as a Club, pick ourselves up and show our determination to get the best results this season. The new management structure we set up in July has provided us with the continuity that is crucial at such times as this, and was one of the main reasons we adopted this approach. When player purchases are determined solely by the manager and that individual leaves, this can often result in wholesale changes to the squad when the new manager arrives. With our structure, our Sporting Director, Frank Arnesen, is accountable for the quality of the squad and as such the current squad, with the many new faces that were brought in during the summer, can enjoy greater stability.'
