                              ENIC plc ('ENIC')


The Board of ENIC has noted the recent press speculation regarding the
possible acquisition by ENIC of shares in Tottenham Hotspur plc ('Tottenham')
and confirms that it is holding discussions with Sir Alan Sugar which may or
may not lead to the acquisition by ENIC of part of his stake in Tottenham.  A
further announcement will be made as soon as practicable.
