                           Transaction in Own Shares

Further to previous announcements concerning the facility set up for
shareholders in the Company holding 2,500 ordinary shares or less ('Small
Shareholders') to be able to dispose of their shares in the Company at nil cost
('Nil Cost Dealing Facility'), the Company announces that Small Shareholders
have tendered a further 10,805 ordinary shares under the Nil Cost Dealing
Facility prior to the dealing date of 30 June 2004 and the Company has bought
for cancellation 10,805 ordinary shares at 30p per share.

The Company also announces that on 29 June 2004 it purchased for cancellation
2,300,000 ordinary shares of 5p each at a price of 30p per share.

Following this transaction, there are 98,751,671 ordinary shares in issue.
