                           Transaction in Own Shares

The Company announces that yesterday it bought for cancellation 2,775,000
ordinary shares at 44p per share and 1,200 Convertible Redeemable Preference
Shares at £575 per share.

Following this transaction, there are 93,825,981 ordinary shares and 58,800
Convertible Redeemable Preference Shares in issue.
