granted  at an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Company
held  on  22  July  1999 to make market  purchases  of  the
 own shares of 25p, a market purchase of 1,000,000
ordinary  shares of 25p each in the capital of the  Company
was made today at a price of 45.75p per share.
