                    Market Purchase of Company's Own Shares



Notification was given that pursuant to the authority granted at the
Extraordinary General Meeting of the Company held on 24 July 2007 to make market
purchases of the Company's own Sigma shares of 12.5p, a market purchase of
75,000 Sigma shares of 12.5p each in the capital of the Company was made today
at an average price of 77.48p per share.

Following these purchases and cancellations there will be 260,450,000 Ordinary
shares of 25p each and 129,720,000 Sigma shares of 12.5p each in issue.

The capital of the Company with full voting rights is now 390,170,000. This
figure may be used as the denominator for calculations of interests in the
Company's voting rights.
