RNS Reach For Release: April 4, 2012
Bridgestone Brazil Update
Transense Technologies plc ("Transense") (AIM: TRT), the provider of sensor systems for the transportation and industrial markets, is pleased to announce that as anticipated in the announcement of 6 February 2012, its wholly-owned subsidiary, Translogik Limited ("Translogik"), has received a further order from Bridgestone Brazil ("Bridgestone") for its next-generation iProbe commercial tyre inspection tool. The iProbe provides a robust, reliable and user-friendly wireless solution for cost effective monitoring of tyre pressure and tread depth, combined with integrated RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) sensor reading capabilities. This order is twice the size originally scheduled for Q2 delivery to Bridgestone.
Bridgestone Brazil, in partnership with Translogik and its South American partner, Budini Inc., has developed a tyre inspection software solution built around the iProbe, for mobile devices running on the Apple iOS and Android platforms. Bridgestone Brazil will use the iProbe and software as a complete tyre monitoring and reporting system for its commercial tyre customers and independent service providers, helping to ensure the optimum performance of the tyres.
Gustavo Gonçalves, Development Coordinator at Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions commented, "We are very pleased with the performance of the Translogik iProbe, and have now placed a further order which is twice the size of the original order placed in January 2012. The iProbe is an integral part of the Bridgestone tyre management solution here in Brazil. With further iProbe orders expected in Q2 and Q3 as part of our national roll out plan we could see almost 100 iProbe systems being used by Bridgestone customers by the end of 2012 into 2013. In my opinion the iProbe is one of the best electronic tools for this kind of application. The iProbe generated considerable interest during our discussions on tyre management with our fleet customers. The iProbe is easy to handle and very ergonomic compared with other products available on the market."
Graham Storey, CEO of Transense commented, "We are delighted that the iProbe has proven to be so successful with Bridgestone Brazil and its customers. The market research we conducted during the development of the iProbe indicated that adding RFID functionality would be a valuable new feature. The increased Bridgestone Brazil order and other recent orders are indicative of the gathering pace of RFID adoption within the commercial tyre industry. Bridgestone Brazil is leading the way in offering RFID ready tyre management solutions and we are optimistic that the other major tyre manufacturers will follow."

About the iProbe
The iProbe is an all-in-one integrated truck tyre inspection solution. The tough, compact and lightweight hand-held device provides rapid, error-free, wireless measurement of tyre pressure and tread-depth, together with built-in RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) reader and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) interrogation capabilities. The iProbe brings new levels of functionality, accuracy and efficiency to the commercial truck fleet management market.
Translogik product trials have shown that the iProbe can reduce vehicle inspection times by up to 60% and reduce data errors to zero.
The iProbe can read RFID tags at up to 50cm - allowing quick and easy inspection of 'dual' tyre configurations. Communication protocol specifications and an SDK are provided to allow integration with third party software solutions.
Use of passive RFID tags offers significant advantages over traditional optical tyre identification methods in terms of durability, reliability and ease of use, allowing for accurate real-time asset management, in order to maximise tyre life and performance, and reduce theft and counterfeiting. The iProbe has a modular design that allows additional functionality to be added as customers require it ensuring the iProbe's abilities can expand as customers own requirements grow.
The Tyre Management product range from Translogik is a range of tools and systems that combine to form "state of the art" solutions for the global tyre management and asset control market.
