Transense Technologies plc
Initial Order from Anglo American subsidiary in South Africa for iTrack
Transense Technologies plc ("Transense") (AIM: TRT), the provider of sensor systems for the transportation and industrial markets, is pleased to announce that subsequent to recent successful field trials, its trading division, Translogik Limited ("Translogik") has received an initial order for its iTrack Tyre Temperature and Pressure Monitoring Systems for mining and off-the-road vehicles ("iTrack") from Kumba Iron Ore ("Kumba"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Anglo American Plc. This first batch of systems will be installed onto 29 large haul trucks at Kumba's Sishen mine in the country's Northern Cape Province, one of the seven largest open-pit mines in the world. It operates around the clock, twelve months a year, and in 2010 produced 41.3 million tons of iron ore.
Translogik now has a technical staff member permanently based in South Africa who will be responsible for training Kumba's tyre service provider in the installation process and ongoing support of the system. It is anticipated that the South African Translogik team will expand as further mines sign up for the iTrack system.
Graham Storey, CEO of Transense, commented: "This order from Kumba represents the first commercial success for Translogik's iTrack system in South Africa. Kumba is a leader in mine safety, committed to achieving a 'zero harm' policy for all its staff. The ability to monitor the tyre performance of all its vehicles 24/7 and receive instant notification of any potential hazardous situations will allow it to achieve greater levels of safety and efficiency throughout its mines."

About Kumba Iron Ore
Kumba Iron Ore Limited is a leading value-adding supplier of high quality iron ore to the global steel industry. Kumba is a member of the Anglo American plc group.
About Anglo American Plc
Anglo American are one of the world's largest mining companies. Its portfolio of high-quality mining assets and natural resources spans bulk commodities - iron ore and manganese, metallurgical coal and thermal coal; base metals - copper and nickel; and precious metals and minerals - in which it is a global leader in both platinum and diamonds. It operates in Africa, Europe, South and North America, Australia and Asia. Headquartered in London with 107,000 permanent employees.
About Sishen Mine
Situated approximately 600 km west of Johannesburg in Northern Cape Province, Sishen mine has been operating since 1947. Ore is processed from in a single pit in two beneficiating facilities, with a lump-to-fine-ore ratio of 60:40, compared with 30:70 globally.
Sishen mine is Kumba's flagship operation and one of the seven largest open-pit mines in the world. It operates around the clock, twelve months a year, and in 2010 produced 41.3 million tons of iron ore.
Consistent product quality is ensured by blending and reclaiming products at the mine before they are dispatched to customers. A state-of-the-art sampling plant at the Port of Saldanha analyses and verifies the composition for further accuracy. With a proven mineral resource in June 2011, of 1,128 million tons, the mine has a life of more than 20 years at the current rate of production.
About iTrack
iTrack provides a rugged and reliable solution with a range of features that allow mine operators to track their vehicles in real-time and receive early warning of potential problems or hazards. This live data allows swift remedial action to be taken, which can be the difference between safe mine operation and a major incident. By ensuring the vehicle's tyres are operating within recommended temperature and pressure limits, iTrack brings increased levels of safety to both the vehicle drivers and the technicians that work on them. From a commercial perspective, by ensuring that tyres are correctly inflated, tyre life is extended and costly down-time from repairs and intervention is reduced, improving productivity.
