Transense Technologies plc - Licence Agreement
Transense is pleased to announce that it has signed a limited licence agreement
with the Thales Microsonics Division of the French defence electronics group
Thales (formerly known as Thomson-CSF) for the supply to North America of
special Surface Acoustic Wave ('SAW') devices for a major application licensee
of Transense. Under the terms of the confidential agreement Transense will
receive royalties on each SAW device supplied by Thales Microsonics. The parties
regard this as an important step in their negotiations towards concluding a
worldwide licence for the production of SAW devices for Transense's automotive
applications. The automotive industry will be a major new business opportunity
for Thales Microsonics.
The technical teams from Thales Microsonics and Transense have been working
closely together during the last twelve months to develop the volume production
of devices for use in Transense's proprietary systems for the measurement of
tyre pressure and temperature. Thales Microsonics is a leading European
manufacturer of SAW devices and the customised SAW devices are now being
supplied to Transense's licensees as part of the build-up to volume manufacture
of tyre pressure/temperature sensor systems.
