             Travis Perkins Buys City Plumbing Supplies for £38.2m


Travis Perkins plc announces it has acquired the entire issued share capital of
City Plumbing Supplies Holdings Limited ('City Plumbing').  City Plumbing has a
network of 48 branches selling plumbing and heating products throughout the UK.
Consideration for the purchase is £38.2 million, subject to final agreement of
the net asset value at completion.  The whole of the consideration is payable in
cash. Assumed borrowings at 1 July 2002 are estimated to be £0.8m.



For the year ended 31 December 2001, City Plumbing reported turnover of £61.8m,
underlying operating profits of £4.2m and pre-tax profits of £3.1m.  Net assets
were £7.0m.



The acquisition of City Plumbing will add to Travis Perkins' expanding network
of specialist plumbing & heating trading outlets, currently 37, and complement
the sale of plumbing and heating products from its other merchant branches.
Travis Perkins expects to see gains from the combination of the two businesses.



Commenting on the acquisition, Frank McKay, chief executive of Travis Perkins,
