Tim Stevenson Becomes Chairman of Travis Perkins

Tim Stevenson, 53, who joined the board of leading builders' merchant Travis
Perkins plc as chairman-elect on 6 September 2001, becomes chairman on 1
November 2001.  He succeeds Tony Travis who it was announced last month would
be retiring on 31 October after 36 years on the board.  Mr Stevenson was chief
executive of Burmah Castrol until August last year following the acquisition
of that company by BP.
