                   TRAVIS PERKINS PLC (THE 'COMPANY')


On 20th September 2000 the Company was informed that Travis Perkins Quest 
Trustees Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company, as trustee of the
Travis Perkins Qualifying Employee Share Ownership Trust (the 'QUEST')
acquired by subscription on the same day, at a price of 572.5 pence per share,
a total of 318,781 ordinary shares of 10 pence each in the Company all of
which are to be used to satisfy options exercised under the Company's
savings-related share option scheme.  As potential beneficiaries under the
QUEST, each executive director of the Company is treated as being interested
in all of the shares acquired by the QUEST.  As at today's date, the QUEST
holds 318,781 shares in the Company.
