Appointment of Group Property Director
Travis Perkins PLC, the leading UK builders' merchant and DIY retailer,
announces that Martin Meech will join the Group as Group Property Director and
Chief Executive of Travis Perkins Property Company Limited in September 2005. He
will report directly to Geoff Cooper, the Group Chief Executive. Martin joins
Travis Perkins from Dixons Group plc where he has been Group Property Managing
Director since 1993.
Martin has nearly 20 years experience as a retail property director. While he
was at Dixons, its Currys business became the No.1 electrical retailer in the UK
and PC World was established. Prior to this he was Property & Development
Director at Gateway Foodmarkets (now Somerfield) and Property Director at
Halfords.
He is a Fellow of RICS, Chairman of the Property Advisory Group of the British
Retail Consortium, a member of the Bank of England Property Forum and a member
of the Owners and Occupiers Property Forum. He has also been a non-executive
director of Quintain Estates and Development plc since July 2000.
