TRISTEL plc
Grant of Patent
Tristel plc ('Tristel'), the AIM listed provider of infection and contamination control products, announces that it has been granted a patent from the European Patent Office for its Sporicidal Wipe (patent number 1648523).
The Tristel Sporicidal Wipe is used extensively throughout the United Kingdom, and in the export markets that Tristel has developed in Europe, the Middle and Far East, for the decontamination of the specialist endoscopes used in Ear, Nose and Throat departments. The Sporicidal Wipe is also widely used for the decontamination of ultrasound probes in cardiology departments.
The Sporicidal Wipe delivers Tristel's proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry onto the surface of the medical instrument and rapidly kills all organisms. Its effectiveness against tuberculosis was recently highlighted in a study published in the Journal of Hospital Infection.
Tristel's core product range of instrument disinfectants has become the market leader in the UK acute and private hospital sector. The Company also supplies an increasing number of UK hospitals with its products for surface disinfection where its chlorine dioxide chemistry is effective against Clostridium difficile.
