                         TULLOW OIL plc (the 'Company')

Application has been made to the UK Listing Authority and to the Irish Stock
Exchange for a total of 64,998,817 ordinary shares of 10p each in the capital of
the Company, to be admitted to the official list of the UK Listing Authority and
to the official list of the Irish Stock Exchange, and application has been made
to the London Stock Exchange for such shares to be admitted to trading. These
shares will rank pari passu with the existing issued ordinary shares of the
Company.

The new ordinary shares are being issued in relation to the Company's
acquisition of Hardman Resources Limited and dealings are expected to commence
on 9 January 2007.
