                 SALE OF UNILEVER REFINERY UNIMILLS IMMINENT

Today, both Unilever in the Netherlands and Golden Hope Plantations Berhad in
Malaysia announce that discussions between themselves have reached a
sufficient stage on the sale of Unilever's refinery business at Unimills,
Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands to Golden Hope to start the legal procedures with
the Works Council and Trade Unions.

The Unimills refinery employs 210 people and has sales to third parties of
Euro 130 million.

The sale of the Unimills refinery business is part of the Unilever strategy
Path to Growth which aims at focussing on 400 leading brands.
