             UNILEVER ANNOUNCES CLOSURE OF SWISS FRANC NOTE ISSUE

Unilever announced that the CHF 500 million 3.375% Notes due 2005, issued by
Unilever N.V. and guaranteed by Unilever PLC, and launched on June 19 2001
under Unilever's debt issuance programme, closed today (July 11 2001).



Details of the issue are:

Type of security:              3.375% Notes due 2005

Denominations:                 CHF 5,000 and multiples thereof

Issue Price:                   100.41% of the principal amount of the Notes

Aggregate Principal Amount:    CHF 500,000,000
