Unite Group PLC 06 March 2003 Date: 6 March 2003 On behalf of: The UNITE Group plc ('UNITE') Embargoed until: 12 noon The UNITE Group plc BOARD CHANGES The Board of The UNITE Group plc, the UK's leading specialist provider of accommodation services for students and key workers, is pleased to announce the appointment, with immediate effect, of Nigel Hall as a non-executive director. Mr. Hall was Group Finance Director of Arcadia Group plc (formerly The Burton Group plc) until February 2003. He joined The Burton Group in 1984 and was appointed to the Board in 1997, becoming Group Finance Director in November of that year. Following the demerger of Debenhams in January 1998, the Company was re-named Arcadia Group plc. Mr. Hall is also chairman of BRC Trading Limited, the trading arm of the British Retail Consortium, and is a Trustee of the Textile Industry Children's Trust. Mr Hall, 47, is a graduate of Cambridge University. He trained with Price Waterhouse in London, qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980 and is now a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Mr Hall replaces David Naish who retires, with effect from 25 March 2003, from the Board after four years of service including acting as non-executive chairman when the Company was first admitted to trading on the Alternative Investment Market in 1999. Commenting on the Board changes, Geoffrey Maddrell, Chairman of The UNITE Group, said: 'We are delighted to welcome Nigel to our Board. He brings with him a wealth of experience of the consumer and financial markets.
