           Appointment of Director of Toy Buying and Merchandising

                          To Principal UK Subsidiary

United Overseas Group PLC ('UOG'), which specialises in the worldwide
distribution of branded consumer goods, is delighted to announce the
appointment of David Fogel as Director of Toy Buying and Merchandising at
United Overseas Ltd., UOG's principal UK trading arm.

David, aged 46, who will join UOG in June, founded The Toy Stack chain of
stores in 1975 and sold the 11 store chain to Hamleys PLC in 1997. Thereafter,
he joined the Board of Hamleys as Buying and Merchandising Director and was a
key member of the management team that oversaw the refit of the Regent Street
flagship store. David was Chairman of The British Association of Toy Retailers
from 1998 to 2001.

Commenting on the appointment, Michael Corke, Group Chief Executive of UOG
said:

joining UOG. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge of the UK toy trade, and
has excellent working and personal relationships with the major UK toy
companies. His considerable experience will enable us to provide additional
