Director's interest in shares

Bert Boersema joined the Board of United Overseas Group Plc ('the Company') on
21 June 2000.

Having investigated the records of the Company's registrars, it is clear that
when Mr Boersema joined the Board, he held (and still holds) 250,000 Ordinary
Shares in his own name.  Mr Boersema is also beneficially interested in
15,871,939 Ordinary Shares in the name of Intertrading Holding Boersema.

Mr Boersema has a further beneficial interest in 1,000,000 Ordinary Shares that
are currently in the name of Eppe Boersema (deceased).
