Board Changes


Niger Uranium (AIM: URU) is pleased to announce that John Sanders has been appointed as Chief Executive with immediate effect. Ian Stalker, who is Executive Deputy Chairman & Acting Chief Executive Officer will become a non-executive director. 


John Sanders has over twenty-four years experience in exploration and mining, predominantly in Southern Africa. He was Vice-President, Exploration and New Business for UraMin Inc, a London- and Toronto-listed uranium exploration and mining company from November 2005 until its acquisition by Areva in August 2007 for US$2.5 billion. Prior to joining UraMin, he was regional exploration manager at AngloGold Ashanti Limited, where he was responsible for Greenfields and Brownfields exploration in the East and West Africa regions. While at AngloGold Ashanti, he was also the country exploration manager for Mali and Senegal from 1999 to 2003. In addition, Mr. Sanders was employed for a number of years by Anglo American Corporation, where he worked as the country exploration manager in Botswana from 1993 to 1999 and as an exploration and mining geologist in South Africa from 1982 to 1993. He holds a Masters diploma in economic geology from the University of Johannesburg and is a member of both the Geological Society of South Africa and the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
