Amendment to record date

Further to the preliminary announcement of the final results for the year ended
31 December 2006 released earlier today, Provident Financial plc confirms that
the final dividend will be paid on 25 May 2007 to shareholders on the register
at the close of business on 10 April 2007, not 6 April 2007 as previously
stated.
