BOARD CHANGES AT PROVIDENT FINANCIAL
Provident Financial plc today announces changes to its Board of Directors to
take effect following its annual general meeting on 17 May 2006.
Andrew Fisher, 47, is to be appointed Finance Director, joining from Premier
Farnell plc, where he has been Finance Director for 11 years. He succeeds John
Harnett, 50, who is to take up new responsibilities as Managing Director of the
expanding International Division which now has over 1.6 million customers.
John Harnett will continue to have responsibility for Vanquis Bank and public
affairs.
David Swann, currently Managing Director of International Division, will be
retiring at the AGM, a few months before his 60th birthday, after 33 years'
service. He led the team which developed the international business from 1997,
building it from nothing to full operations in four central European countries.
The business is now also in Mexico and piloting operations in Romania.
John van Kuffeler, chairman of the Board commented: 'We are delighted to
welcome someone of Andrew Fisher's calibre and experience to the Board and
equally delighted that we have such a capable professional as John Harnett to
lead and develop further the highly successful international division. David
Swann retires with the gratitude and thanks of the Board having worked
tirelessly and effectively to build a strong home credit business outside the
UK.'
