Provident Financial plc announces the financial calendar for its interim results
for the half year ended 30 June 2005.  This has been revised to allow sufficient
time to prepare accounts under IFRS and is as follows:

14 September 2005                     announcement of interim results

21 September 2005                     ex dividend date for ordinary shares

23 September 2005                     record date for the interim dividend

14 October 2005                       payment date of the interim dividend
