Appointment of New General Manager at Baita Plai

 

Vast Resources plc, the AIM-listed mining company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Marcus Brewster as the new General Manager of its Baita Plai Polymetallic Mine ("Baita Plai" or the "Mine") in Romania, where the Company is pleased to report that production and sales of concentrate continue in line with expectations.

 

Marcus's  full time role, starting on 1 March 2021, will include leading the development of Baita Plai to its full potential, whilst maintaining the highest standard of safety and environmental compliance. Marcus will provide mentoring and training to further develop personnel as the Company looks to adopt international operating best practice where possible.

 

Marcus is a senior mining professional with 24 years of open pit and underground experience and has demonstrable expertise in delineating and progressing development programmes, successful mine turnaround projects and managing challenging mining operations in South America, Africa as well as Eastern Europe. Marcus previously held senior operational management positions at various international mining companies such as Hummingbird Resources PLC, Endeavour Mining Corporation, Nordgold & Gold Fields Limited. 

 

Marcus holds an MSc in Mine Engineering & MSc in Mine Geology from the Camborne School of Mines and a BSc in Geology and Environmental Geography from Brunel University London as well as a Certificate in Project Management from Lancaster University.

In Zimbabwe, the Company is focused on the commencement of the joint venture mining agreement on the Community Diamond Concession, Chiadzwa, in the Marange Diamond Fields.
