IBNET TO OFFER INTERNET
STOCKMARKET ABUSE MONITORING SERVICE
VIA HEMSCOTT PARTNERSHIP
IBNet PLC, ('IBNet') the Internet surveillance company, has today announced
that it has agreed an exclusive partnership with Hemscott plc ('Hemscott') the
business and investment information services provider, to market Sharedetec,
IBNet's internet monitoring service that focuses on detecting stock market
abuse.
The partnership with Hemscott will enable IBNet to access Hemscott's existing
extensive client base of quoted PLCs and its dedicated sales team. The
product will be called Hemscott Sharedetec and the two companies will share
the revenues that are generated. The Sharedetec product will compliment the
other Investor Relations services that Hemscott offers to its customers.
Sharedetec is an Internet monitoring service that addresses the threats that
the Internet poses to quoted companies through the misuse of bulletin boards
and chat rooms. Types of fraud that this service aims to combat includes
share price ramping, 'pumping and dumping' shares, reputation abuse and
misinformation. The Hemscott Sharedetec product will monitor bulletin boards
and web-sites, searching for comment and stories about all the UK listed
companies which the user has selected - fully listed, and AIM listed
companies. The user is then immediately notified by means of a sophisticated
alert system on the users' desk-top.
Mark Ommanney, Chief Executive commented,
' Sharedetec is an invaluable tool for IR professionals. It is vital for
Companies who are subject to market abuse via the Internet to be able to deal
with any problems as they occur.
' I am delighted that we have formed this partnership with Hemscott. This
will enable us to offer our services right into the heart of our target
market. We are able to take advantage of Hemscott's customer base, which
compliments its existing Investor Relations products. The potential for
IBNet's Internet monitoring services is huge and we are seeing increasing
demand for our surveillance products.'
Rosalyn Wilton, Chief Executive of Hemscott said,
' We are leaders in value added information services. Hemscott Sharedetec
will be another complementary product in our portfolio alongside the
collaborations with Business Wire and Virtue Broadcasting, the webcast
specialist and enhances the core product offering for our total investor
relations solution.'

IBNet plc - Company Information
IBNet addresses a new market based on a new medium, the Internet. Many
companies are either unaware of the potential threats and problems to brand
and reputation posed by the Internet. Some are aware and doing nothing,
whilst others are taking tentative steps only to find that the two billion
pages are impossible to monitor manually. IBNet's automated system allows
individuals in organisations to assume responsibility and take positive
action.
Since IBNet's flotation on the Alternative Investment Market ('AIM') in March
2000, it has been successful in securing clients, providing monitoring
services to a number of clients with world wide reputations in a variety of
business areas, including:
- News and data provision
- Telecommunications
- Broadcasting, Music and Entertainment
- Financial services and Banking
- Logistics and secure transportation
- Engineering
The core product, Netdetec has been targeted at large companies which need to
monitor the Internet.
New Products
IBNet has created three niche branded products using our technology and aimed
at specific markets:
- Branddetec for the protection of brands. This is of enormous importance
to companies whose global brands represent a large percentage of the overall
worth of their business.
- Newsdetec for monitoring breaking news, chat rooms and fan based
communities.
- Sharedetec designed for stock market professionals and listed companies who
need to keep a close track on Internet Bulletin boards and Financial news.
Sharedetec has caught the imagination of the City and City press as share
manipulation on the Internet is known to be a growing and dangerous problem.
Sharedetec provides a practical, economic and convenient means of keeping
constant track of comments on individual equities. The product has been
carefully developed and priced to appeal to both financial institutions and
individual companies through a structure tied to the number of equities
monitored.
Branddetec and Newsdetec products are generating substantial interest and
importantly customers, as a result of our appearance at the Brand Show in
London in October and our continuing editorial presence in relevant trade
press.
