IBNET ANNOUNCES JOINT MARKETING AGREEMENT WITH ARMORGROUP
IBNet plc, the Internet surveillance and competitive
intelligence gathering service, announces a joint
marketing agreement with ArmorGroup, the global risk
management services division of Armor Holdings Inc., which
was included in FORTUNE magazine's list of 'America's 100
Fastest Growing Companies' in 1999.
IBNet has developed sophisticated Internet Surveillance and
Monitoring Services (ISMS) solutions that detect, deter, and
help resolve abuses of corporate intellectual property on
the Internet. Such abuses, including dummy web sites, pose
serious threats to corporations' reputations and often
involve fraud or brand piracy. With IBNet, ArmorGroup will
be able to thoroughly monitor Internet content on behalf of
its clients. The company is already winning clients among
major brands who recognise the need to take advantage of
this very necessary form of protection.
Paul Mewett, Business Development Director of IBNet commented:
'Almost all major companies are at risk of online attacks
that include at least one of the following forms of abuse -
financial misrepresentation, brand piracy, corporate
reputation attacks, and theft of intellectual property or
proprietary information from online customers. We have even
found instances where companies were suffering from all of
these abuses before we identified the problem!'
Mike Stannard, Executive Director of Fraud Investigations at
AmorGroup commented:
'With cyber security becoming a rising priority within all
business organisations, we are very excited about this
partnership with IBNet. We are ready to offer our clients
the most sophisticated form of real-time, global Internet
protection in the world. We plan to offer specially
tailored versions of IBNet's ISMS solutions to our clients
to help them to understand, anticipate and combat threats to
their brands and corporate reputations from online attacks.
Underlining our confidence in IBNet is the fact that we have
chosen them to protect the integrity of our own intellectual
assets and corporate reputation, including
www.armorgroup.com.'
IBNets announcement is timely given the security issues
raised by recent attacks on major internet players including
the world's most popular search engine, Yahoo.com. IBNet
and ArmorGroup have found that the use of search engines to
detect web attack and abuse is only a partial security
solution. Conventional search engines typically contains
less than 5% of the Internet content, and with the
Internet's content doubling every 100 days, the potential
for cybercrime is growing at a phenomenal rate. More information
about IBNet can be found at its website, www.ibnetplc.com.
ArmorGroup is the services division of Armor Holdings, Inc.
ArmorGroup services division headquartered in London,
provides a wide range of security risk management and
humanitarian support services to corporations, governments
and non-government organisations (NGOs) internationally.
