SALE OF CARBON BONDED CERAMICS BUSINESS OF FOSECO
Cookson Group plc ('Cookson'), a leading materials science company, announces
that it has today completed the disposal of the Carbon Bonded Ceramics business
('CBC') of Foseco plc ('Foseco') to companies owned by RHI AG ('RHI').
On 11 January 2008, it was announced that a conditional agreement had been
entered into to sell CBC to RHI to expedite anti-trust clearances. Following
the acquisition of Foseco by Cookson on 4 April 2008 and confirmation from the
European Commission and the United States Department of Justice that this sale
satisfies the condition concerning CBC included in the anti-trust clearances
obtained on 4 March 2008, the sale of CBC to RHI has now been completed.
CBC had revenue of approximately £19 million for the year ended 31 December 2007
and gross assets of approximately £8 million as at 31 December 2007.
