Richard Haythornthwaite to be Non-exec Director

On 20 September Cookson Group plc announced that Richard
Haythornthwaite would join the Board on 1 November 1999
as a Non-executive Director.  He has now taken up his
position.

Other directorships in publicly quoted companies held by
Mr Haythornthwaite over the last five years are as
follows:

Blue Circle Industries PLC
Premier Oil PLC (resigned 30.09.97)

There are no other details required to be disclosed by
paragraph 16.4 of The Listing Rules.
