                           Board Appointment

Victrex plc announces the appointment of Anita Frew as a non-executive
Director of the company, with effect from 1st August 2000.

Anita Frew (aged 43) is a Director of Abbott Mead Vickers plc where,
inter alia, she has focused on business development and strategic
analysis with clients in the Chemical and Automotive sectors. Her
earlier career includes Head of UK Equity at Scottish Provident,
Director of Corporate Development at WPP, and then CEO of Frew
Macmaster until its acquisition by Abbott Mead Vickers.

She is a non-executive Director of Henry Ansbacher Holdings Ltd and
Ergo Ltd.

There are no disclosures required in respect of Anita Frew under
paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g) of the Listing Rules.
