Director Appointment

The Board of Directors ("the Board") of VinaCapital Vietnam Opportunity Fund Limited ("the Company", or "VOF"), an investment company primarily focused on Vietnam, announces that it has appointed Ms. Thuy Bich Dam as a new Independent Non-executive Director, effective from 07 March 2014. As a result the total number of VOF Board members has increased to six.

Ms. Thuy Bich Dam

Ms. Thuy Bich Dam began her career at Vietnam's Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, responsible for coordinating treaties between the government and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO). From 1996 to 2005, Ms. Dam worked as the Natural Resources Director of ANZ Investment Bank (Singapore), spearheading the bank's project advisory and infrastructure finance capabilities in South East Asia. Following this, Ms. Dam was appointed as the CEO Vietnam, CEO Greater Mekong Region and Vice Chairwoman for the Greater Mekong Region for ANZ Bank Vietnam over a span of nearly eight years, from 2005 through 2013. In May 2013, she became the CEO of Vietnam International Bank (VIB), tasked with incorporating international standards within the bank's nationwide branches. Ms. Dam is currently the Head of Group Development Southeast Asia for the National Australian Bank.

Commenting on the appointment, VOF Chairman, Mr. Steven Bates stated, "We are delighted that Ms. Dam has accepted our invitation to join the Board. We have been looking for an independent senior commercial figure in Vietnam who can bring a local perspective to our work. Ms. Dam fits that bill admirably."
