Director Appointments

The Board of Directors ("the Board") of VinaCapital Vietnam Opportunity Fund Limited ("the Company", or "VOF"), an investment company primarily focused on Vietnam, announces that the Board has appointed Mr. Steven Bates and Mr. Martin Adams as new Independent Non-executive Directors, effective 5 February 2013. The appointment of Mr. Bates and Mr. Adams to the Board will bring the total number of VOF Board members to six.

Commenting on the appointment, VOF Chairman, Mr. William Vanderfelt stated, "Our decision to review the composition of the Board was made with the intention to bringing additional emerging market fund knowledge to help solidify VOF's position and increase the Board's independence from the Investment Manager." Mr. Vanderfelt added, "The collective experience of both Mr. Bates and Mr. Adams will be instrumental in improving oversight and governance, ultimately allowing the Company to generate value to shareholders."

Steven Bates

Steven Bates is a veteran investor in emerging markets, spending most of his career with the Fleming Group and its successor JP Morgan Asset Management, where he led the emerging markets team. Over the past 10 years Mr. Bates has continued to manage investments across the emerging world working for Zephyr Management and has added a number of non-executive roles in investment companies.

Martin Adams

Martin  Adams has over 30 years investment and banking experience in emerging markets and has forged a career serving as an independent director on listed and unlisted funds. He is currently chairman of Eastern European Property Fund, Kubera Cross Border Fund, Trading Emissions, Trinity Capital and Vietnam Resources Investments and a non-executive director of a number of other funds.
