CLOSING OF VODAFONE'S ACQUISITION OF BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS' INTERESTS IN
JAPAN TELECOM AND J-PHONE COMMUNICATIONS FOR £3.07 BILLION
Vodafone Group Plc ('Vodafone') announces that it has today completed its
acquisition of the interests of British Telecommunications Plc ('BT') in Japan
Telecom Co., Ltd. ('JT') and J-Phone Communications Co., Ltd ('JPC'), for a
cash consideration of approximately £3.07 billion. Vodafone intends to
complete its acquisition of BT's interests in the operating subsidiaries of
JPC during July 2001.
