SIR CHRISTOPHER GENT - SHARE PURCHASE

In accordance with Section 329 of the Companies Act 1985, I have to inform you
that on 22 June 2001 Sir Christopher Gent, Chief Executive of this Company,
part exercised an option granted to him in July 1997 under the Company's Share
Option Scheme (which is not an Inland Revenue approved scheme) at an option
price of 58.7p per share and acquired 100,000 ordinary shares of US$0.10 in
the Company.

In July 2000, Sir Christopher committed within twelve months to acquire and
maintain, for a three year period, a shareholding of at least 2,000,000
shares. As a result of this transaction Sir Christopher has an interest,
excluding unexercised share options, in 2,006,609 ordinary shares of US$0.10
each in the Company.
