VODAFONE CUSTOMERS ARE 'AT HOME' EVEN WHEN THEY'RE ABROAD
Vodafone Group Plc ('Vodafone') today announces a service that enables
customers to use their normal 'short code' dialling numbers to access services
such as voicemail, directory enquiries and customer service when travelling
outside their home country. Launched on seven Vodafone networks across
Europe, the service will soon be rolled out to other Vodafone operators around
the world. Customers can already opt to use Vodafone Eurocall, the European
flat rate tariff.
Instead of needing to remember long access codes, customers will in future
only need to dial the short code numbers they are already familiar with at
home. For example, a customer from the UK travelling in Germany only need
dial 121 to access their voicemail messages. This innovative feature becomes a
standard part of the Vodafone brand offer, illustrating another benefit of the
expanding Vodafone network.
Thomas Geitner, Chief Executive Group Products and Services designate,
commented, 'Allowing customers to use their existing short code access
numbers, even when travelling, shows how being part of the Vodafone family can
make using a mobile phone easier. Together with Vodafone Eurocall, we expect
this new service to increase roaming usage and to drive revenue growth,
particularly in the business market.'
