Sale of Mannesmann Tubes

          VODAFONE AIRTOUCH CONFIRMS SALE OF MANNESMANN TUBES

Vodafone  AirTouch Plc today announces that the Supervisory  Board  of
Mannesmann AG ('Mannesmann') has approved the sale of Mannesmann Tubes
to    Salzgitter.    Accordingly,    the    repositioning    of    the
telecommunications  and the engineering and industrial  businesses  of
Mannesmann has almost been completed. Prior to the sale to Salzgitter,
Mannesmann undertook a capital restructuring, increasing Mannesmann's
holding   in  Mannesmannrohren-Werke  to  99.3%  and  made  a  further
financial  contribution,  at a total cost  of  approximately  EUR  260
million.
