PROFESSOR SIR ALEC BROERS APPOINTED TO VODAFONE AIRTOUCH BOARD
Vodafone AirTouch Plc today announced that Professor Sir Alec
Broers has been appointed as a non-Executive Director with
immediate effect. Professor Sir Alec had previously been a member
of the Vodafone Group Plc Board, and had stood down following the
merger between Vodafone and AirTouch Communications, Inc which was
completed on 30 June 1999. Since that time he has held the
position of Director Emeritus of Vodafone AirTouch Plc, an advisory
position without formal Director status.
Aged 60, Professor Sir Alec is the Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge
University. He spent many years with IBM and is a Fellow of the
Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institution of
Electrical Engineers, the Institute of Physics and is a Foreign
Associate of the US National Academy of Engineering.
