Volex Group p.l.c.
Acquisitions in Sweden & Estonia
On 28 March 2000 Volex Group p.l.c, the world's leading
independent producer of electrical power cords and
electronic interconnect cable assemblies, acquired for cash
100% of the share capital of Mitema Industries AB ('Mitema')
for an initial consideration of SEK17.5M (£1.3M) subject to
a net worth adjustment for the period 1 January 2000 to 28
March 2000.
Mitema operates from Ostersund in Sweden and through a
subsidiary in Estonia and has approximately 70 employees.
Volex regards this acquisition as strategic as it gives
facilities in Sweden to better service its customers in
Scandinavia. Additionally assembly capability in Estonia
will provide further capacity to meet growing demands in
this important market region.
Commenting on this acquisition, Volex Chief Executive, Dom
Molloy said:
'This acquisition offers Volex the opportunity to be in
close proximity to its major customers in the region and
will improve our ability to provide quick responses to our
customers demands for engineering support and logistical
service.'
