                              Chairman's Statement
                                        
Following the successful fund raising of £15.8m (net of expenses) in June 2005,
Volex Group plc will be holding its Annual General Meeting today at 12.30 p.m.
The Interim Chairman, David Beever, will make the following statement to
shareholders:

'Since the announcement of the Group's 2005 preliminary results on 6th June
2005, trading has continued broadly in line with the Board's expectations for
the Group. The restructuring plan is being carried out on schedule and in some
aspects has been accelerated thus increasing the level of exceptional charges
expected this year.

The Group's operating results for the year to date are in line with the Board's
expectations, however the Group remains cautious about the increasing level of
commodity prices, although it has managed so far this year to minimise the
impact on the trading performance of the business.

I am also pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Martin May as non-executive
Chairman and Board Director of Volex Group plc. Mr. May, age 52, will take up
this appointment at the conclusion of today's Annual General Meeting. Mr. May is
chairman of Cape plc and a director of a number of private companies, a Fellow
of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a founder member and
Fellow of the Society of Turnaround Practitioners.'
