TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES - corrective announcement

The company released a 'Transaction In Own Shares' announcement on 30 May 2017 at 5.56pm under RNS No 6194G. The total number of Shares in Treasury following the purchase on 30 May was incorrectly stated to be 4,758,529 instead of 4,783,529 and the total number of Shares in issue (excluding Shares held in Treasury) was incorrectly stated to be 377,857,136 instead of 377,832,136.  

All other details remain unchanged.

TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

The Company announces that it has purchased the following number of its ordinary shares of 1 pence each in the capital of the Company (the "Shares"):

Date of purchase:                               30 May 2017

Number of Shares purchased:           43,065 Shares

Highest price paid per Share:             82.00 pence

Lowest price paid per Share:              81.00 pence

Average price paid per Share:            81.97 pence

The Company intends to hold these Shares in Treasury. Including Shares which have been purchased but not yet settled, the Company holds 4,783,529 Shares in Treasury.

Following the above purchase, the total number of Shares in issue is 377,832,136 (excluding Shares held in Treasury).  This number represents the total voting rights in the Company and may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they can determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in the Company under the Financial Conduct Authority's Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules.
