Wärtsilä Corporation CHANGES IN SHARE CAPITAL AND VOTES 25 April 2008

Under the terms of the 2002 option scheme the share subscription
period began on 1 April 2004. Altogether 20,700 options were
exercised between 1 December 2007 and 31 March 2008, in accordance
with the terms of the scheme, entitling subscription of 31,050
Wärtsilä shares. The increase in share capital resulting from these
subscriptions totals EUR 108,675.00.

After the increase the share capital amounts to EUR 336,002,138.50
and the total number of shares to 98,620,565.

The company will register the increase in share capital in the Trade
Register.

This 2002 option scheme ended on 31 March 2008 and all option rights
were exercised.
