                         Completion of SPM Acquisition

Further to the receipt of shareholder approval at an Extraordinary General
Meeting on 13 July 2007 of the proposed acquisition of SPM Flow Control, Inc.
('SPM'), The Weir Group PLC confirms that clearance has now been received under
the United States Hart-Scott-Rodino Anti-trust Improvements Act of 1976 and the
acquisition of SPM has completed today.

Terms used in this Announcement have the same meaning as set out in the
Circular dated 26 June 2007.
