As previously intimated, The Weir Group PLC announces the retirement of Sir
Ronald Garrick as Chairman and as Director of the Company with effect from 30
June 2002. He has been succeeded by Sir Robert Smith who was appointed
non-executive Director and Chairman designate in February 2002.
