Appointment of Non- Executive Director

The Weir Group PLC announces the appointment of Mike Dearden to the Board as a
non-executive director.
Mr Dearden (60), was formerly a main director of Burmah Castrol Plc. He was with
the company for 20 years, joining as marketing manager of Castrol International
becoming Chief Executive of Castrol International and Director Lubricants,
responsible for sales of £2bn. He also spent seven years with PA Management
Consultants working on international marketing and general management
assignments.
Weir Group chairman, Sir Robert Smith, said: 'Mike has wide experience and a
first-class reputation as a hands-on operator at an international level. He also
brings a extensive knowledge and understanding of governance, and change
management issues in acquisitions.
'He will complement the already considerable range of expertise on The Weir
Group board and I am delighted he has agreed to join us.'
Mr Dearden also holds non-executive positions with Johnson Matthey plc and
Travis Perkins plc.
