                   Appointment of new Group Finance Director


Further to the announcement made on 21 March 2006, The Weir Group PLC announces
that Keith Cochrane joined the Group as Group Finance Director today.

As at today's date Mr Cochrane holds 3,500 ordinary shares of 12.5p each in the
Weir Group, in his own name.
