On 8 July 2005, The Weir Group PLC announced the disposal of the desalination
and water treatment businesses of Weir Westgarth, Weir Entropie and Weir Envig
to Veolia Water Systems, part of Veolia Water, the water division of Veolia
Environnement. The disposal of the South African company Weir Envig was
conditional on approval of the local competition authorities. This approval has
been received and completion of the sale of Weir Envig was finalised on 14
September, 2005, with the £2.4m balance of the total aggregate value of £27.7m
having been paid.
