The Weir Group PLC ('the Company') received notice dated 29 March 2004 that, for
the purposes of the Companies Act 1985 (as amended), Royal London Asset
Management are now the beneficial owners of 5,640,861 shares held as
shown in the table below.

The notification of change is due to a decrease in the beneficial interest
holding from 3.10% to 2.75%.

Percentage holdings are calculated using an issued share capital of 204,845,275
ordinary shares of GBP0.125.
